Amedeo Sanzone

Amedeo Sanzone is born in 1968 in Naples, where he lives and works.

He started his career in his father’s workshop, combining practical experience to artistic research studies. After art high school diploma and the Naples Fine Art Degree, he get a degree in Aesthetics too, at Federico II University in Naples.

The choice of the material is determined by a clear will and it answers to thematic and theoretical needs: lexan, a plastic material similar to plexiglass, but at the same time very different, shows up as a transparent plate that reflects light very well, and the artist, after a particular preparation, works on it using car paint and a unique color.

Through his works, the artist reflects on light, space and color. Light: theoretical expression of a clarifying, religious and philosophical thought, not created by a succession of lights and shadows but lived through the bright background of the space in which the work lives. Space: it is not demarcated by a precise and circumscribed edge, it is not an ensemble of points and straight lines, it is not geometric, euclidean, but instead an undefined space, controlled by emptiness. It is a soul’s space. Color: it is a summary element between two complementary moments – light and space; it’s an invite for the viewer, an aestheticizing moment but monochrome.

One of his artworks is in CAM – Casoria Contemporary Art Museum – permanent collection.

Another work is in Pio Monte della Misericordia Museum permanent collection.
